QUESTION:
Help.  I purchased a very nice gelding.  He is stumbling with his hind legs, especially the left rear.  He is catching his toe and hurting his ankle.  He has alot of heel on all four feet.  Was wondering if this is a shoeing problem? If so, any suggestions on how to properly shoe a MFT?  Thanks

ANSWER:
Heel calks could cause the above results in some horses, if he is shod with heel calks, reshoe him in flat keg shoes. If this is not the case or this fails to cure the problem a full physical exam and soundness test should be done.
